Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBD?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is an active ingredient in cannabis derived from the hemp plant. It is the most abundant non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and is being scientifically researched for numerous health benefits.

Is there THC in your products?
No. Our products are made from CBD isolate which is an isolated molecule that has no THC. We are excited to be exploring the use of Broad Spectrum CBD in our product offering as well! See more information on the differences below.

Is your product grown organically?
Yes. We use organic approved methods of weed, pest and fungus control throughout the growing process. Once harvested, our products are tested rigorously ensuring there are no pesticide residues prior to being sent for extraction and processing.

Can I pass a drug test when using your products?
Yes. There is no THC in our products and CBD is not a psychoactive drug.

Are your products legal in my state?
Yes! Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, THC-free CBD products are legal in all 50 states.

What is the difference between CBD Isolate, Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum?
CBD Isolate: This is the purest form of CBD. During the extraction process, all compounds found in the plant including terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids are removed and only the CBD molecule remains.

Broad Spectrum CBD: Broad spectrum CBD can be looked at as a combination of Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. Similar to Full Spectrum CBD, the additional compounds found within the plant are preserved in the extract; however, like CBD Isolate there is no risk of psychoactive effects as THC is completely removed.

Full Spectrum CBD: Full spectrum CBD is an extract that keeps all compounds found naturally occurring in the plant, including terpenes, other cannabinoids and THC. Unlike the Isolate and Broad Spectrum options, you are more likely to experience psychoactive effects and drug test detection of THC levels.

Which product is best? Isolate, Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum?
It is important to understand that one is not better than the other. Each person has unique needs and this determines which form of CBD is ideal for their condition(s). At Desert Hemp, we have chosen to work with CBD isolate and Broad Spectrum for our retail product line.
As always, please consult your physician for personalized medical advice.

What method of extraction do you use?
Supercritical C02.
The most advantageous aspect of CO2 extraction is the fact that when used as a solvent, carbon dioxide leaves behind no residues. This is crucial in providing customers with the purest form of CBD oil. When compared to other extraction methods, such as butane extraction which can leave behind trace levels of heavy metals, CO2 extraction results in premium quality, clean oil.

How do I consume CBD?
There are 4 standard ways to consume CBD:
1. Ingestion by way of edibles
2. Applying to your skin topically
3. Under the tongue (sublingual)
4. Inhale/vaping

At Desert Hemp, we do not offer or suggest any of our products to be consumed by means of inhaling or vaping.

Please work with your physician to determine the ideal method of consumption for your personal needs.

Will CBD decrease my pain?
Due to Federal regulations, we cannot make claims about whether or not CBD can help with specific ailments. According to www.health.harvard.edu, CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies
suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep.

The website also states that CBD may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat. More study in humans is needed in this area to substantiate the claims of CBD proponents about pain control.

What else does Desert Hemp offer?
Great question! In addition to our retail brand, Michael Laca (owner with wife Ashley) provides consulting services and genetic expertise within the Industrial Hemp industry across the United States. Check out the 'Hemp Consulting' page on our site for more information on the agricultural piece of our business.
